HABITAT LEVEL
Funding from supporters at this level will go towards the purchase and maintenance of necessary equipment for the ongoing rattlesnake study. Some of the equipment required includes scales to weigh them, probes for sexing them, thermometers for air temperature (critical in fall as they travel to their winter dens), GPS for mapping location, snake handling sticks, and batteries for equipment. A den camera would be a great addition as well!
Supporters at this level will receive:
- Adoption Certificate with color photo
- Cost: $25.00
TRAIL LEVEL
Funding from supporters at this level will go towards the purchase of pit tags (microchips) and an additional scanner to read them. All rattlesnakes captured on site receive a pit tag as identification. This pit tag stays with them for life. Snakes found on site will be scanned and mapped for tracking movement of individuals.
Supporters at this level will receive:
- Adoption Certificate with color photo
- Mid-season & end of season reports on rattlesnake activity on site
- Personal invitation to attend the pit tagging (microchip implant) procedure of captured rattlesnakes in our holding enclosure ("Snake Hotel") and their release back onto the site.
- Cost: $100.00
DEN LEVEL
Funding from supporters at this level will go towards the purchase and maintenance of radio transmitters, radio tracking equipment and veterinary fees for surgical implanting of the transmitters into the rattlesnakes. All captured snakes receive a pit tag and those selected candidates for radio telemetry will be outfitted with a radio transmitter that can be tracked for a minimum of 2 years.
Supporters at this level will receive:
- Adoption Certificate with color photo
- Mid-season & end of season reports on rattlesnake activity on site
- Personal invitation to accompany one of our rattlesnake experts on a 1/2 day field trip to learn first hand about rattlesnake behavior and assist in tracking radio tagged rattlesnakes to see what the research entails. When possible, observe the pit tagging (microchip implant) procedure of captured rattlesnakes in our holding enclosure ("Snake Hotel") and their release back onto the site.
- Cost: $500.00
